#SyrianEmbassy protests worldwide

Syrian activists reported heavy fighting in Homs and across the country on Friday, leading Syrians around the world to protest outside their embassies.

Russia and China vetoed the Arab League's plan at the UN Security Council on Saturday morning, drawing heavy criticism from US Ambassador Rice, who said the US was "disgusted" that the UNSC had "been held hostage by a couple of members for months." The day before the vote was marked by reported heavy fighting in Homs and across Syria, which led Syrians on Twitter to call for protests outside their embassies around the world.

The UN Security Council met on Saturday, one day after reports of an army incursion in Homs. Witnesses claim this military action resulted in one of the largest losses of civilian life in the last.

Activists noted the disparity between the information shared on Twitter and that on Syrian TV.

In Kuwait, videos were uploaded of protesters chanting near the Syrian Embassy.

A second video appears to show protesters storming the building.

Over 150 protesters in London confronted riot police outside the embassy. Some threw paint, others broke windows.

The Stream was on the scene at the protest in Washington D.C. and spoke to Murhad Jouejati, a member of the Syrian National Council.

Also interviewed was Abdullah Al-Sayed, a member of Activists for a Free Syria who arrived in Washington two months ago from Zabadani, Syria, where he said he fought with the Free Syrian Army.
