Following the viral success of #Kony2012, Al Jazeera looks to voices from inside Uganda.

The documentary "Kony 2012," calling for the arrest of Lord's Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony, has been labeled the most viral video in history. Along with the support it has generated, many claim the video distorts the facts and reinforces Western stereotypes.

In response, Al Jazeera recently launched a campaign to give Ugandan voices a global platform.

"No one shall welcome you in Northern Uganda wearing Joseph Kony T-Shirt." #UgandaSpeaks #Kony2012 This video should have been released around much earlier when there was still conflict (early 2000's). it does not depict the current picture on the ground now. we are now at the stage of reconstruction.The campaign has come at the time when we don't need it, i don't think that video is valid, they would have shown the atrocities he is committing in central Africa not uganda. since we drove kony out of Uganda in 2003, he has never stepped on Ugandan soil again. Why was this not done ages ago when we woke up everyday to gruesome pictures on the front pages of tabloids? It seems to me someone just wants to make money out of a bad chapter in our history. Americans should back off our country and find elsewere were to put their brain games.When Uganda needed their hands,they showed us their backs and folded their hands and now 8 years after the end of the war and we are trying to heal and reconcile,they are scratching our healing wounds again and acting the savior in a crisis!!!While others took a positive view of its effect.
It has done a great job telling the whole world that kony was real, many died, more living the trauma. I strongly believe that that movie will help us make it known to everybody in the world that Kony is a threat to Uganda.President Museveni does not want kony to be captured because he benefits a lot from the foreign aid given to Uganda in terms of Milllions of dollars to fight against him.According to reliable sources,it is UPDF,not LRA,killing people in Sudan and northern Uganda. -Ddembe Abdul #Kony2012 has put Uganda on twitter map + is making it cooler for ev'1 to think critically (and hopefully progressively) about Africa. #Kony
