On July 9, 2011, Zynthia Cazares and 17 members of her family were taken from their homes in Matamoros, Mexico which lies along the Texas border.

Most of them were released, but almost a year later, five of the men are still missing, including Zynthia’s husband, brother and father.

Zynthia spoke with The Stream about the kidnapping and the aftermath.
